Michael Abbott for Mayor Coral Gables - Pledge Campaign

As the mayor of Coral Gables, I will be transparent, accountable, and beyond reproach. I intend to serve you honorably - Government for the people by the people.

I will seek a rigorous cost analysis road map for cutting wasteful spending - Coral Gables Tax Payers are NOT the City's Piggy Bank, and implement a budgetary process of fairness—Keeping in mind the complexities of Florida's Save Our Homes Statute. Time management is key to effective governance.

I will be customer friendly by streamlining the permitting and building process, and eliminate the bogged-down, too many delays and unknowns, and customer complaints approach. Furthermore, I will push to rebuild Code Enforcement (a civil enforcement effort) - making it more accountable for enforcing codes and compliance.

I will be inclusive and respectful, and promote an inclusive and respectful culture across governmental, commercial, and residential living activities—promoting tolerance for, including, but not limited to, opposing opinions, religious differences, political ideologies, physical challenges, and cultural backgrounds.

I am a smart growth proponent and want Coral Gables to pioneer South Florida's Emerging Growth Initiative (Silicon South): A Global center for high technology and innovation, convening the established and emerging leaders - across business, government, academia, labor, and the broader community—to take up the emerging visions and challenges.
