About Michael

Son of late Col. George Gregory Abbott, DDS, MS (USAF Ret.) (2018), from Saint Petersburg FL, undergraduate of Univ. of. Florida, Doctor of Dental Surgery from Emory University GA, and MS in Biochemistry from University of Texas, and late Jolyn Hunt Abbott (2015), from Elberton GA, BA Psychology from Huntingdon College, Montgomery AL. Brother, late John Reeves Abbott (2015), Hospitality Management degree from Florida International University (while attending FIU, John was a Coral Gables Country Club night manager), he also was with the Florida Marine Patrol Auxiliary and retired from Coral Gables Building and Zoning in 2013. Uncle Philip Abbott, DDS, BArch, is architectural professor with Florida International University, College of Architecture, and he previously taught dentistry at the University of Florida.

As a military dependent and as an adult, I have lived in or visited, extensively, countries in 5 different continents.  Appreciating cultural differences was and is an experience and a privilege.

Educated Early Admission at Huntingdon College, Montgomery AL and Auburn University (Naval ROTC). Received BA degree in Accounting in 1986 from Huntingdon College.

With over 3 decades of leadership experience in General Accounting, Finance, and Auditing, including several CPA firms (one of which performed governmental audits (such as City of Athens GA—Home of University of GA and Metro Atlanta Coweta County), several large private and publicly traded companies, such as Mutual of Omaha, HealthSource HMO (purchased by Cigna in 1997), and worldwide logistics DB U.S, Holding Corp. (DB Schenker), and as a Federal Auditor with the U.S. HHS, Office of Inspector General and Interim CFO for Episcopal Diocese of Central FL (congregation of 80 churches).  Currently, a Founding Member and CFO of SXG Holding Company (subsidiary: SynXGlobal, Inc. and SynXLeasing, Inc.), a logistics transportation company. Have extensive experience in planning and conducting comprehensive audits for a wide array of industry sectors 

to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws 

and regulations.

Moved to Coral Gables in July 2002, which is when I met my wife, Zascha.  Married Zascha in December 2004, and held our wedding reception at the Venetian Pool.  She is an Attorney.  BS Business Administration, Florida International University, and JD, Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law.  Her parents immigrated here from Cuba.

Active in the City Beautiful, but in the background. Fought against the truck ordinance that once prohibited pick-ups in residential driveways. Fought against misapplication of the Fire Fee and influenced the City to repair uneven sidewalks.  A Founding member of a non-profit called Coral Gables Action Committee, formed in 2021, that tried to save Burger Bob’s (www.cgactioncomm.org).  Have an active Civil Rights Violation Lawsuit for criminal behavior demonstrated by the Coral Gables Police Department.

Running for Mayor of this Beautiful City to effect change. Together, in all ways measured...
